Flotation foamBuoyancy Foams

Buoyancy foam billets, Handi Foam®SR, and pourable urethane liquid foam can be used in a wide variety of applications such as: docks, decks, boats, rafts, kayaks, canoes, pontoon boats, filling voids, and many other marine applications.
Buoyancy Billets Buoyancy billets are commonly used for floating structures such as docks, rafts, and boathouses. Buoyancy billets are made from STYROFOAM® Brand Foam consisting of millions of tiny closed-cell air bubbles resulting in extreme buoyancy. This means that a buoyancy billet cannot become punctured or water-logged. Buoyancy billets are lightweight and easy to install, so structures can be built quickly and efficiently. Buoyancy billets are durable and it takes only one cubic foot of STYROFOAM brand buoyancy billets to float 55 pounds. Buoyancy billets are also rugged and durable. Buoyancy billets do not break down like wood, and will not become water logged.

Handi Spray In Foam Handi Foam SR® Slow Rise Foam is a multi-purpose slow-rise polyurethane foam. It is formulated to slowly rise and fill, insulating large enclosed spaces and blind cavities. Handi Foam SR is a spray –in polyurethane foam used to fill cavities at a slower expansion rate and cure time. Handi Foam SR allows the foam to flow throughout the cavity and fill the entire void prior to the foam curing. Handi-Foam SR Foam is a two-component poured-in-place foam that cures tack-free in 60 to 90 seconds.

Handi-Foam SR® systems meet the Coast Guard Specification Requirements for Flotation in Title 33 code of Federal Regulations, paragraph 183.114

Pourable Foam Pourable Urethane Liquid Foam is another common solution for marine applications. Sometimes referred to as two part urethane foam, also called "pourable urethane", and "liquid foam". The two-part liquid, expanding urethane foam is a closed cell, pourable foam, which will resist the absorption of water. Once fully cured this foam can be laminated over with any type of polyester, epoxy, or vinyl ester resin without melting. This product can be poured in multiple coats.
  • Part 'A' – The resin, or liquid that is contained in the can that is displayed in the image above.
  • Part 'B' – The catalyst that causes the curing reaction forming the foam.
